Hello
Hi, my name is Stuart Lovibond. I’m a guitar teacher based in Fareham/Gosport in Hampshire.
I’ve split this page into chunks, just to help you a little bit:
- My Background
A little bit about when I started playing guitar, what I’ve picked up and how it’s helped me. - Why Do I Teach?
About me as a teacher. - Why Should I Teach You?
Qualities I have that may make me the right teacher for you. - ‘I’d like to start guitar lessons, but how?’
How you can start guitar lessons.
My Background
The majority of the population will always have that guitar that is sat in the corner of the room gathering dust, maybe it was given to you, picked it up from a charity shop or a car boot or your parents may have brought it when you were young as a present in hope that you would pick it up and become Hendrix overnight. Ever since I was really young I owned a guitar but never really got into playing it until I was about 13 years old when I got guitar lessons at school. In my last year of school I spent most of my time after school taking part in all the music workshops and while doing this I have gained a lot of experience playing in a band, both performing and practicing, and it is this that has taught me how to comunicate with others and has allowed me progress as a guitarist.
Through college and outside of college I’ve gained a lot of experience playing in bands, helping out at gigs (with sound, lights, ect) and in the studio both playing and recording other musicians and I’ve managed to get a good idea how to play with other musicians, help develop myself as a musician and help others develop as musicians.
Currently I’m in a band called Kelly and the Acoustics, who won 2012 Battle of the Bands in Gosport. Throughout the summer of 2012 we were gigging almost every weekend, while in the studio and on the radio, which means I’m able to pass all this knowledge and experience onto you.
Why Do I Teach?
I have been teaching for the last couple of years and have found it to be something which I really enjoy doing and have had great feedback from those who I teach. I teach people of all ages and abilities and have been teaching children from the young ages of four to adults and have been getting positive results from teaching them.
I will tailor your lessons to fit you, in the way that you learn because from my teaching career I have learnt to appreciate that everyone is different especially when it comes to learning an instrument. By personalising the lessons to suit you this will enables you to get the most out of your lessons.
Why Should I Teach You?
Just a couple of advantages:
- Great with Children
I’ve always taught children guitar and for this reason I’ve developed skills that help me communicate with children in a way they understand and find interesting. I have also been CRB checked and this is viewable on request as well as having a certificate in ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’. - Virtual Archive
I’m always losing bits of paper, those pieces of paper that you say to yourself ‘If I put it there then I wont lose it’ and then the next second later you say ‘I put that somewhere safe, but where?’ does that ring any bells? As a teacher I thought that I should address this problem and created something that I always wished I had during guitar lessons, as a student of mine you get access to a virtual archive of everything that we have covered in our guitar lessons, with your own personal login and there are also some extra piece of music and videos on there too!
